Continental® magnetos are renowned for their rugged, reliable and repairable design. So they need regular inspection, repair and overhaul and eventually, replacement. Continental® now offers NEW ignition kits with Shower of Sparks technology, redefining the future for Lycoming®* 540 series engine owners. Continental® S-200/204 and S-1208/1209 magnetos are not affected by Airworthiness Directives (ADs) requiring mandatory impulse coupling inspections every 250 or 500 hours, allowing you to forego these costly inspections and associated downtime.
Shower of Sparks is a simple system for boosting ignition energy and altering timing during starting for added ignition reliability, whether your engine is cold or hot. Continental® offers the engine ignition kit that includes magnetos using “Shower of Sparks” technology, and matching ignition harness. A separate Continental®airplane kit includes a starting vibrator and necessary hardware to complete the installation. In most cases, the installation of the new Continental® Shower of Sparks ignition kit is accomplished in the same amount of time needed for a mandatory impulse coupling inspection per ADs associated with Lycoming®* 540 engines, ensuring cost and downtime savings.
Continental® Shower of Sparks ignition kits are eligible for installation on a variety of Lycoming®* engines. We also offer full core value for like models and for all Slick®** magnetos when transitioning to a Shower of Sparks ignition kit.
