    Continental Motors, Inc. is seeking a Research and Development Engineer III for product development and engine system design efforts for future general aviation reciprocating piston engine systems at its Mobile, Alabama facility.

    Essential duties and responsibilities:

    -Planning and execution of engineering tests and development projects.
    -Coordination of activities related to technical development, scheduling, and resolution of engineering design and test issues.
    -Prepare project deliverables, design documents, test plans, test reports, and product configuration packages.
    -Analyze test results and provide recommendations for design and test improvements, and document findings in written engineering reports.
    -Review and evaluate product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, quality standards, industry specifications, and regulations.
    -Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
    -Coordinate design, production, testing and related activities.
    -Provide status updates and reports to project team and management.
    -Other duties as assigned.

    Desired characteristics

    -4 to 6 years experience in the application of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, vibration or stress-strain analysis for engines or similar complex systems.
    -Applied knowledge of internal spark ignited or compression ignition engine systems.
    -Demonstrated experience with sensors, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis for development purposes.
    -Experienced in experimental and analytical methods to solve complex problems.
    -Fundamental knowledge of manufacturing processes of mechanical or electrical components.
    -Prior experience in aircraft applications and FAA Certification is desired.

    Education and-or experience

    Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related Engineering discipline with at least 4 to 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
    Pilot certificate and-or FAA DMIR, DER, DAR, or A and P certificate are a plus.

    Language skills

    The candidate should be a motivated self-starter with good written and oral communications skills and excel in a multidisciplinary team environment.

    -Finite Element Analysis Software (NASTRAN preferred)
    -National Instruments LabVIEW (preferred)
