    Conducts investigations on returned engines and parts to determine causes of field performance issues. Responsible for troubleshooting, detailed measurements, engine disassembly and testing, including documentation, engine teardown, test cell operation and reporting of investigation results.Works with representatives of regulatory agencies including NTSB, FAA and foreign civil aviation airworthiness authorities assisting in investigations.

    Essential duties and responsibilities

    - Observe all safety, environmental and general housekeeping rules and policies
    - Perform tests, measurements and inspections on returned goods.
    - Responsible for using sound judgement and technical aptitude to make decisions regarding measurements, troubleshooting, testing and documentation.
    - Responsible for the handling and documentation of returned goods.
    - Install and remove engines and components from test fixtures.
    - Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks daily
    - Document all work accomplished in a clear, concise and accurate manner
    - Research repair instructions, service limits and product history to support investigations
    - Use common hand tools to disassemble and repair engines and test equipment.
    - Must be able to work cooperatively with team members to prioritize work appropriately.
    - Utilize special measurement tools to perform intricate inspections.
    - Self starter, requires little supervision or guidance while performing assigned duties

    Education and experience required

    High school diploma or general education degree and two year technical degree or equivalent experience. At least six years of experience in the maintenance and inspection of aircraft piston engines. Airframe & Power Plant license preferred

    - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, diagrams, tables and procedure manuals.
    - Ability to speak and communicate in writing effectively and respectfully.
    - Ability to write reports and basic business correspondence.
    - Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
    Problem Solving
    Ability to solve practical problems and investigate engine performance issues with guidance.
    Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    Physical Requirements
    - Ability to lift 50 pounds.
    - Ability to stand or site for extended periods of time.
    - Must be able to see to disassemble and visually inspect.
    Computer Skills
    Basic typing skills and intermediate computer skills: MS Excel, MS Word
