The Supplier Quality Engineer will develop, maintain, and support Supplier Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering efforts to ensure that products and services meet drawing and purchase order specifications and requirements for purchased material. The Supplier Quality Engineer works with Quality, Engineering, Procurement, and the supplier to define, approve, implement, and continually improve the supply base for engine components and other programs and projects as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Drive Zero Defect mentality within the supply base - Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems and conduct technical and quality system assessments and related systematic audits of potential new and current suppliers - Directs, coaches, assists the supplier in performing containment, root cause problem definition, analysis, and corrective action using problem solving techniques - Create supplier development plans, perform supplier audits, implement closed loop corrective actions, and generate quality metrics and reports in support of the Supplier Management Program - Provide technical input for strategic sourcing, including evaluation of supplier capability, specification review, product implementation, and part transition - Work closely with Procurement to manage overall supplier performance - Function as the technical liaison between the supplier, engineering, and manufacturing to resolve quality issues or implement process improvements - Prepare and present quality reports and actions to communicate significant issues or developments improve supplier performance - Implement specific processes, inspection and test controls to enable conforming parts to be shipped dock to stockto Continental Motors where practical and desirable - Travel to supplier locations to assist with problem solving, conduct audits, and supplier development - Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards
Bachelor's degree from four year college or university, or one to two years related experience and training.
Knowledge of ISO AS9100 9102 standards, experience within the Quality function in the aerospace and automotive industries, knowledge of manufacturing methods, exposure to lean manufacturing concepts and techniques, ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, strong communication skills, and the ability to write technical documents, standard work, and create process flow charts. Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer, or Certified Quality Manager preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and specifications, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedures, and manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and suppliers.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
